Signing up to volunteer as a campaigner
How does the sign up process work?
Unlike our stewarding positions, festival campaigning involves a selection process, so we ask that you provide some additional information to demonstrate why you would make a great campaigner.
To sign up, follow these steps:
- Create or log in to your account.
- Choose your role. Select 'Campaigner' from the drop down menu.
- Choose your festival. Select the festival(s) you want to volunteer at.
- Pay your refundable deposit. You will be forwarded to Stripe to complete your deposit payment. You can use Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a debit/credit card.
Tips for a Smooth Deposit Payment
To ensure your deposit payment goes through without issues, we recommend that you:
- Check that you have enough funds in your account beforehand.
- Have all the details you need, including the postcode for your card.
- Keep an alternative payment method available in case of any issues.
Once your deposit is paid, your place will be reserved while we review your application.
Can I apply for multiple festivals?
Yes! After paying your deposit and seeing the confirmation screen, you can sign up for additional festivals.
Completing Your Application
If You Are New to Campaigning:
- Record a 3-minute video introducing yourself. Tell us a bit about yourself, including why you’d make a great campaigner and tell us about something (anything!) that you’re passionate about – try and make us love it as much as you do!
- Upload your video as an unlisted file on YouTube and paste the URL into the designated box in your profile.
- If you have any issues uploading your video, please email us on festivals@oxfam.org.uk.
If You Have Campaigned With Us Since 2022:
- You do not need to submit a video or paragraph—we already know your friendly face! Instead, answer the following questions in your application:
- What advice would you give a new volunteer that you wish you knew when you started?
- What is your best tip for festival campaigning?
- Are there any festivals (Oxfam or otherwise) where you would love to campaign?
Why is There a Selection Process?
Campaigning involves engaging with the public and effectively communicating Oxfam’s campaign messages. We aim to select individuals who not only have the potential to be excellent campaigners but also feel comfortable and confident in the role – so that you have a positive time at the festival.
How Long Do I Have to Complete My Application?
We review completed applications as we receive them, so we recommend applying and completing your application as early as possible. To ensure we are able to fill our places, we ask that you complete your application within two weeks of reserving your place.
If you do not complete your profile (including video submission) we will assume you are no longer interested and cancel your application. Your full deposit will be refunded as long as you have no other active applications.
This policy ensures that as many people as possible can apply given the high demand.
What Happens to My Deposit if I am Unsuccessful?
If you are not successful in getting a campaigner place at any festival, your deposit will be refunded after we have reviewed your application.
Contacting You By Phone
As part of the selection process, we may contact applicants by phone to discuss their application in more detail.
Campaigning at Glastonbury Festival
2025
This year, we will not have a public launch for campaigning at Glastonbury. Due to extremely high demand, only our top campaigners from 2024 will be invited to apply.
2027
To be considered for a campaigning place at Glastonbury in 2027 (after their fallow year), you must have campaigned with Oxfam at three or more festivals during the 2025/2026 seasons.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. We look forward to seeing your applications!
How do deposits work?
When you sign up, you'll pay a refundable deposit.
The amount of the deposit depends on what you are signing up to:
- Glastonbury: £380
- Other weekend festivals: £250
- Day festivals and events: £50
You only need to pay one deposit to sign up to multiple festivals, however if the deposit you have paid is not big enough for the festival you're signing up to, you'll be asked to top it up.
Your deposit will be returned to you 4 weeks after your last festival of the year, or 6 weeks for Glastonbury festival.
